Edizione Milano with Alfred Von Escher
Coming Sunday 27.11.22 we are hosting “Edizione Milano” from 12.00 - 17.00
Join us for an Aperitivo, and we will introduce you to exciting designers and artists like our first guest, Alfred Von Escher.
22 years ago and in search of inner peace, he drove his 1964 Cadillac de Ville to Palermo, the capital of the Italian island Sicily. For him, inner peace meant finding a place where he could restore vintage furniture in undershirts and sell them on the street. And so Alfred, who previously lived on the beautiful Zurich lake, opened the first artisanal co-working studio, 427 in Brancaccio. His focus: furniture made from recycled materials, whereupon his project became part of the Venice Biennale, various Fuorisalone fairs, and further exciting collaborations with design architects. In 2015, he decided to move to Milan, where he created the Base Workshop.
Today, he lives and works in an old factory in viale Monza. Where he makes furniture, paints, cooks and dines with friends and enriching people. Just as traveling has always been part of his life, so is furnishing still. It is not aesthetic perfection Alfred strives for, but an intuitive and emotional approach to the craft and object itself. Seeing, hearing, perceiving instead of following a precise plan.
Through exactly this approach, he creates distinctive and unique pieces by applying layers of paint on old wooden pieces. Come by for the opening on Sunday 27th for an Aperitivo and to meet Alfred himself.
The pieces will be on view until 16th of December 2022.
