About Kala Cotton
Kala cotton is a native variety grown in India’s arid regions, where water and fertile soil are limited. Its name, Kala, means “black” in Sanskrit, referring to the dark, shell-like calyx of the plant. Naturally resilient, Kala cotton resists pests like the pink bollworm without the need for pesticides.

With short fibers (20–22mm) and a coarse texture (about 5μ thick), Kala cotton thrives without chemical fertilizers or irrigation, making it an inherently sustainable crop. Cultivated in harmony with nature and traditional farming methods, it represents a deep connection between the earth, the farmer, and the fabric—enriching our senses and supporting a more mindful way of living.
