Opia Advent DAY 17 with Stephanie Schneider
Are you a Christmas lover?
Yes I love Christmas, although it is my most busy season of the year. I work hard until the last minute, but then I really look forward to spend my Christmas with the family.
Do you have any Holiday / Christmas traditions?
I always visit my parents who live in the beautiful regent of the Allgäuer Alpen. And of course I always hope for the calm and festive white Christmas in the mountains. This year we will exchange the cold and the snow of Bavaria with the hot sun of Afrika and go with the whole family to visit my husbands mother and siblings in Dakar/ Senegal.
Everybody is very excited.
What is your favourite food during the holidays?
Since I remember we always had fondue at Christmas evening and of course for desert the most amazing self made Christmas Cookies ( Weihnachtsplätzchen ) of my mum.
What is your most vivid childhood memory of Christmas?
I remember a Christmas 20 years ago when my grandma was still alive. We had a big dinner with all aunts, uncles, sisters, bothers and cousins. Some of them are musicians, so there was a lot going on. Guitars, piano, violins, accordion, drums…. it started with the traditional Christmas songs, but the highlight was when the just new introduced Brazilian girlfriend, now wife, of my cousin started to dance samba… just amazing…
What is on your wish list this holiday season / Christmas?
Lot’s of snow in the mountains and lot’s of sun in Senegal.
What was your favourite Christmas present as a child?
I remember 2 presents very well…
When I was 10 years old I got a set to play post office with all formulars and envelops, stamps, money … and the box in which is was all packed was functioning as the counter…. the bottom oft the box could be used as a desk and the top as the counter window….
The second present that was a super success was my first TV. I got it when I was 15 and it was a super tiny TV which only worked in black and white and it had this small antenna on the top to receive the channels… there were exactly 3 of them…
Which gift did you want but never get?
The wish that never came true was a very big teddy bear, as big as a grown up human being. He was every year shown in the little magazine of the children toys shop…. probably super expensive, so he never found his way to my house…. I would still love him….
If you have to choose the perfect gift for your best friend / loved one from your own collection, what would it be?
This season I would choose the little golden bracelet with the colourful gemstones. It is beautiful, playful, elegant and precious, just perfect to make your best friend or loved one happy.
